On the 11th of June, a new Dragon Ball Super movie came out (Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero) along with a brand new transformation for Son Gohan…

What wasn’t confirmed via images or videos prior to the release of the movie was that Gohan’s new transformation wasn’t the only new one that got introduced into the franchise. Instead, we got three new forms for three different characters, forms that elevate their power to god ki level… Those three transformations were:

Gohan Beast

Gohan Beast is a transformation unique to Gohan which is characterised by the user’s eyes obtaining a vivid red colour and long, white hair…

Akira Toriyama has confirmed that this transformation doesn’t have any direct connection to the Saiyans, and is instead idiosyncratic to Gohan.

Orange Piccolo

The only transformation Piccolo had shown off before was his Great Namekian form, which only increased his size and physical strength. However, thanks to Piccolo’s wish to Shenron (unlock all his hidden potential), Piccolo obtained this orange form which he simply named “Orange Piccolo”. On the back of his torso is present the Namekian symbol of pride, which consists of a circle that represents Shenron, with an inner orb and a connective part that represents the Ajisa tree.

While the transformation could seem a bit lame due to its amazingly unoriginal name or its simple look, Toriyama has confirmed that Piccolo finally reached a level of power similar to Goku and company.

With this confirmation, we suppose that Toriyama refers to the divine transformations of Goku and Vegeta…

Cell Max

To finish off, we have the main antagonist of this film, created by Hedo, grandson of Dr. Gero: Cell Max… This new android is based off the characteristics of the original Cell, but with various improvements in size and strength… In the movie, Cell Max appears in his second form and, stated Toriyama, if he had reached his final form he would transform into an individual “so powerful that not even Broly would be able to beat”.

The most dominant characteristic of this new Cell (apart from its flashy colours) is his way of talking, constantly screaming in an uncontrollable way…
