When a certain game catches your eye and you think about purchasing it, the first thing that comes to mind is usually to check the price on the official page and if you find it too expensive, you may opt to look for it in websites that sell digital keys (also known as keys) for a very cheap price, sometimes even too cheap…
These prices don’t come out of nowhere, they have an explanation to them, one that ismorally questioned by many.
When you decide to buy keys for digital products legally, you have a variety of options to choose from:
- Firsthand sellers: The platforms that store and own the games and sell the keys.
- External vendors: External companies that usually buy keys in huge quantities to firsthand sellers for a lower cost, to then sell them for a more affordable price
- Grey market sellers: Online markets that buy keys from individual users or offer a certain commission when selling them. They manage to sell those keys at absurdly low prices since, especially with games made by upcoming developers, users directly ask the developer for keys, using excuses like “just trying out the game”, “doing a giveaway”, “doing a critical review”, etc. to get them.
With this brief explanation, we now have an idea as to what methods such known webs like G2A, CDKeys, Instant Gaming use… It is also important to clear up that the type of vendor each of these webs is we don’t truly know, and our readers are free to look that type of information up, rather than interpreting this article as the whole truth.
Periodic reminder that G2A is dogshit.

Support us by buying from reputable sources or pirate our games. pic.twitter.com/63q2zWYqxT
Grey market sellers are not recommended by any videogame developer and some even encourage piracy over buying keys from these websites This is because in neither of those ways, the user supports the developer finantially..
Is G2A really that bad?

As someone with little money I honestly thought it was better than piracy as I assumed they bought the keys from the devs
Now I feel kinda shitty ngl
To sum up, its up to each one of you to decide where you end up purchasing your keys for digital products.
